What stays, what changes
A head swap is for a photograph that is already finished. You like the garment, the way the person is standing, the hands, the room and the light. You want a different person in that same frame.
The garment stays untouched. So do the pose, the hands, the background and the light. The identity changes. The hair is rebuilt so it belongs to the new head, including the hairline. Skin is matched where the new head meets the neck, so it does not look stuck on.
| Part of the photo | What the head swap does |
|---|---|
| Garment | Untouched |
| Pose | Untouched |
| Hands | Untouched |
| Background | Untouched |
| Light | Untouched |
| Identity | Changed |
| Hair | Rebuilt |
| Skin | Matched |
Buttons, stripes, a collar and the fold of a sleeve stay in the photograph you uploaded. Headloom does not restage the shot.
How to head swap in three steps
Headloom is a head swapper for still photos. There is no mask to paint and no prompt to write. Two photos in, one photo out.
- 1. Upload the person photo. Upload the photo you want to keep.
- 2. Upload the new head. Upload a photo of the head you have permission to use.
- 3. Get the result. Get the same shot back, with the new head.
You do the head swap online after you sign in with Google, and you confirm the people in both photos agreed. The pairs below are replays, not a live swap.
Head swap and face swap
The two names get used as if they were the same button. This is an AI head swap with hair included, not a face dropped into the hair that was already there.
| Part | Face swap, in general | Head swap |
|---|---|---|
| Hair | Usually left as it was | Replaced and rebuilt |
| Hairline | Stays with the original head | Comes from the new head |
| Head shape | The face changes inside the same head | The shape of the head changes too |
| Skin tone | Often blended around the jaw | Matched across the new head |
Read that table as the usual meaning of the two names. A face swap, in that sense, changes the face and leaves the hair. A head swap also replaces the hair, the hairline and the shape of the head.
Headloom does not follow that split today. The face swap on this site is the same whole-head edit as the head swap on this page. Hair is rebuilt. The original hair is not kept. Do not expect a face-only result there.

Where it has already been used

Louis Philippe uses Headloom for its shirt catalogue, with one approved face across every shirt. The same face is on the mint shirt, the light blue shirt and the cream linen shirt.
Who uses a head swap
Retouchers and photo editors use it when a frame is already approved and only the person should change. Photographers use it when the same model cannot come back for another garment. Fashion brands and print-on-demand sellers use it to put one approved person across a set of clothes. AI creators use it when they need one consistent character and the outfit still has to look like a photograph, not a new scene.
Catalogue work is the same job across more garments. For that, see AI model face swap for catalogues.
If you are still choosing a product, compare head swap tools against the thing you actually need kept: the garment, the pose and the light.
Tips for a good head swap
- Use a front-facing head photo, with both eyes visible.
- Keep the angle and the light close to the photo you are changing.
- Keep hair off the eyes and the mouth.
- Use one person in each photo.
- Keep the head under about half the frame, so the garment is still the subject.
Hands across the face, a hat, or a very steep camera angle are the usual reasons for another try. A second head photo, taken more simply, often fixes it.
Quality and speed
Results come back in high resolution, with no pixel shift. About a minute per photo.
That minute includes a safety check. You get one picture back, in the framing you sent.
Consent and privacy
Only use people who have agreed to it. A live swap stays off until you tick that you have permission from the people in both photos, and that everyone shown is an adult.
Every photo is safety-checked. Photos are used for your swap only, deleted within 24 hours, and never used for training. The results are yours. Download what you want to keep, because Headloom does not leave the file sitting there.
What the tool must not be used for is on the responsible use page. Who runs Headloom is on the About page.

Guides
Questions
Is this head swap free?
Yes, to start. Every new account gets 10 free swaps during beta with Google sign-in, no card.
Do I need to sign up?
Yes, for a live swap. Sign in with Google. The before-and-after photos on this page replay swaps that were already made. They are not a live swap, and there is no swap without an account.
Does the headswap change the hair too?
Yes. The whole head is replaced and the hair is rebuilt to match the new head.
Will it change the clothes, pose or background?
No. Only the head changes.
What quality are the results?
High resolution, with no pixel shift.
How long does a head swap take?
About a minute, including a safety check.
Can I head swap a video?
Not yet. Headloom works on photos.
Whose faces can I use?
Only people who have agreed to it.
What happens to my photos?
Used for your swap only, deleted within 24 hours, never used for training.
Can I keep one face across many photos?
Yes. Use the same approved head photo for each swap.
What's the difference between a head swap and a face swap?
In general, a face swap changes the face, and a head swap also replaces the hair, hairline and head shape. On Headloom, the face swap is still a whole-head swap: the hair is rebuilt with the face. See the face swap page.
